He is certified by the NY Institute of Photography and eventually found himself upgrading his equipment to professional gear. This is just one example of how you observe and learn. I have done that countless times and have seen a new change every time. I observed those subtle changes in the reflections, changes in it’s tonality, changes in the temperature of the lake. I have been to Lake Louise in Banff Canada and i would go there early in the morning around 5 and then observe the texture of the lake as the sun comes up, watch how it changes color through the day and at night. Study visual art, understand nature’s wonders, observe light, observe human emotion, observe contrast, observe shadows, notice the finer movements of air, be still and absorb. I did formal education on photography but little did I realize that kind of education will only teach you 10% – the rest 90% you learn through observation. Why don’t they teach how to pay taxes, how to fix you car if it breaks down in the middle of no-where, survival skills, CPR etc. Absolutely useless knowledge unless you plan to become a mathematician (which 99% won’t). ![]() I mean where will you apply Pythagoras or Trigonometry. ![]() But the school system most countries do not have a logical or practical adoption. Education and degree is a norm and every parent wants their kids to go to college as a bare minimum. I grew up in a normal middle class family with knowledge and school were given utmost importance.
